Three Bears

Three Bears lesson plan

  • 1.

Read Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Use lots of expression. Show children pictures as you read, or use flannel board figures. Focus on the number of bears, the matching number of bowls, chairs, and beds, and the relative sizes of Papa, Mama, and Baby Bea

  • 2.

Children are usually eager to reenact the story, so encourage them to find suitable props. They also like to retell the story with flannel board pieces. Help them focus on story sequence.

  • 3.

After they know the story well, offer them the opportunity to make the characters and setting. Encourage them to try sculpting techniques such as roll, pound, add, pull, coil, mold.

  • 4.

Which character (a bear, Goldilocks) or item (bowls of porridge, beds) in Goldilocks and the Three Bears was the most interesting to you? Look at the pictures to get some ideas about its shape and parts.

  • 5.

With Crayola® Model Magic, form your sculpture.

  • 6.

Cover your work area with recycled newspaper. Put on a Crayola® Art Smock. Paint your creation with Crayola® Washable Tempera and Brushes. Dry overnight.

  • 7.
