Monkey in the Middle

Monkey In The Middle

  • 1.

With an adult, choose an outdoor paved area that is clean, safe, and free from traffic.

  • 2.

Determine a fair tossing distance based on the skill of the players.

  • 3.

Use your Chalk ‘n Roll to mark a straight running path the determined distance. Draw a large box at each end.

  • 4.

Two players stand, one in each box, at either end on the path.

  • 5.

One player stands on the path between them. This player is the Monkey in the Middle.

  • 6.

The outside players try to throw the ball back and forth to each other without the Monkey catching the ball.

  • 7.

If the Monkey catches or gains control of the ball, or the throwing players step out of the box, the player who threw the ball or stepped out becomes the new Monkey, and the old Monkey becomes one of the throwers.

Adaptations
